There is a category of technical problems that go unnoticed – until they affect a real user: a form that rejects a valid email address, a platform that fails to recognize a correct domain name, an authentication system that blocks a user because of the characters in their language. These are not user errors. They are architecture errors.

This reality was at the core of the discussions held at the Moldova Internet Governance Forum 2026, organized in Chișinău on April 23–24, 2026. MIGF is one of the few local spaces where the technical community, private sector, public authorities, civil society, and international organizations come together to discuss the concrete directions of Moldova’s digital infrastructure.

The second day of the forum was dedicated to topics related to Universal Acceptance (UA) – a set of technical standards that define the ability of digital systems to correctly recognize and process all domain names and email addresses, regardless of alphabet, language, or extension.

In practical terms: a UA-Ready system accepts without errors an email address or domain name containing characters specific to the Romanian language – ă, î, ș, ț – or characters from other alphabets, including Cyrillic. For Moldova, where two writing systems coexist in daily life, this requirement is not abstract. It is a reality that local applications and platforms face directly. It may seem like a technical detail. In reality, it is the difference between a digital service that works for all users and one that silently excludes a part of them.

The technical session at 14:00, titled “Hands-On Technical Adoption Experience: Becoming UA-Ready”, addressed exactly this gap between standard and implementation: how to assess whether a system is UA-ready, where bottlenecks occur in real applications, and what adjustments are needed at the level of code, databases, and interfaces.

DAAC digital was represented at this session by Ivan Sîrbu, Director of Software Projects. The participation was not ceremonial. For a company that develops and integrates software solutions for organizations in Moldova, the topics discussed at MIGF 2026 translate directly into technical decisions: how email addresses are validated in applications, how databases are structured, how interfaces are designed for users from different linguistic environments.

Global standards do not become reality through documents. They become reality when integrated into products, tested in real scenarios, and correctly implemented in systems that run every day.

MIGF 2026 a confirmat un lucru pe care industria IT îl știe, dar nu întotdeauna îl prioritizează: calitatea unui sistem digital se măsoară și prin capacitatea lui de a funcționa corect pentru diversitatea reală a utilizatorilor, nu doar pentru scenariul cel mai comod.

Pentru Moldova, care își aliniează accelerat infrastructura digitală la standardele europene și internaționale, această perspectivă devine tot mai relevantă. Iar companiile care înțeleg acest lucru și participă activ la dialogul despre guvernanță digitală contribuie concret la construcția unui ecosistem mai solid.

Mulțumim Asociației „Comunitatea Internet” pentru invitația de a participa în discuțiile acestei ediții – teme precum Universal Acceptance nu sunt străine pentru cei care lucrează zilnic cu sisteme software, integrări și infrastructură digitală. Tocmai de aceea astfel de forumuri contează: pentru că transformă standardele în conversații concrete, iar conversațiile concrete în soluții implementabile.
